When Hunger Hits Home

The Regional Food Bank serves more than 250,000 people each year. As a long-time supporter, the CA team decided to do something special to open the organization’s 25th Anniversary Fundraising Gala. The result was “When Hunger Hits Home,” a short video presentation designed to motivate giving at the event and help raise awareness of hunger issues in the community.

Our video production crew spent a day at CONCERNSU, one of the busiest outreach soup kitchens in the Capital Region. We transformed a small room into a pure white interview space and set up shop. One by one, clients who wanted to tell their story of hunger stopped in to see us. And we talked.

What came out was pretty amazing and provided the source material for a powerful video presentation. When the editing was done, we knew we had captured something that was truly moving. And the audience agreed. By the end of the night, the auction had raised a record-breaking $130,000 to help fight hunger.

The video recently won an Ad Club ADDY Award for Public Service, Electronic Audio/Visual. It is currently being used in outreach efforts by affiliated organizations in the community and is featured on several websites, telling the gripping tale of what can happen when hunger hits home.
